I'm not sure what season it was. But wasn't there an episode exactly like this. It takes place in the future, Lisa's a teenager, it's her birthday, but everybody forgets and she gets upset about it. I forget what else happens, but it ends with Bart trying to make up for forgetting about her birthday by writing a second version of the "Lisa it's Your Birthday" song he wrote with "Michael Jackson" when she was 8. Even bringing Leon Aka Michael Jackson to sing the song with him. Her response was very tepid. Basically saying "meh" and brushing them off. It would have been more meaningful if they didn't use it as a throw-away joke bringing back the song and Leon and everything. That's a serious call-back to a classic episode with an incredibly heart-felt ending. And to have THAT be its successor was like a kick in the teeth.

Either way. I'm not accusing you of plagiarism or anything. It's just the whole Simpsons did it thing from South Park, if you've seen that one. Basically, they've made so many episodes about so many different situations. That you just can't avoid accidentally making something which ends up very similar to something they've already done.

And there's another thing, I forget what it's called, but it's where somebody sees a tv show or movie or reads a story, what have you, and then later on, they unconsciously write something almost exactly the same. Not realizing where they got the idea from. There have been some pretty big plagiarism cases where that happened. Now that I think about it, The Simpsons did an episode about THAT, too. Lisa wrote a book or something that wound up being copied from something she read or watched. I forget the exact plot. It was one of the later, more forgettable seasons. But that right there goes to prove my first point lol. It's really interesting to think about.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was a common occurrence in that family
